When OCD isn't just about cleaning!!!
TRIGGER WARNING for suicide Now, my friends will attest to this, I'm a bit of a slob. How can this be??? I hear you all saying, but no really. I have a floordrobe, my car is a disaster and I drive my housemate to distraction when I leave wet towels on the floor and dishes in the sink. It's not ideal, and I do try and work on it, but like all things the severity ebbs and flows. I also have OCD, and it is infinitely frustrating when I tell people and their immediate response is: You? But you're not tidy! *Twitch* Correct...and thank you for pointing that out. OCD stands for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Not Obsessive Cleaning Disorder. See what I did there? ;) Clever, I know. But in all seriousness, OCD is about not being able to stop a thought pattern, which then leads to a behaviour. I worry that if I don't clean my house, there will be germs, therefore I clean it repetitively. And no, don't be one of those arseholes who says stupid shit like: ...
